Birnie Bus Service, Inc. Community Involvement
Birnie Bus Service, Inc. is proud to support our local community. Here are just a few of the many things we do.
America's Greatest Heart Run and Walk: In the past we have donated buses and a group of volunteer drivers. Rocco Garro, our Transportation Safety Investigator coordinated all of the transportation volunteers the past two years and has even received the "Distinguished Service" award for the Heart Run and Walk organization.
The Utica Boilermaker Road Race: Donating buses and transportation coordination efforts for this event. The drivers of these vehicles will all be volunteering their time for this event. We will have Birnie Bus Service drivers from both our Utica and Ilion facilities.
School Bus Safety Program: We have one of our School Bus Driver Instructors present a safety program to all of the elementary school age children and then followed up with a Coloring Contest. Each school has a winner who recieves a $50 gift card and the grand prize winner also receives a new bike with safety gear! This is our third year doing the contest and our second year doing the safety program.
Annual Bus 'Roadeo' Skills Competition:
Science Fair Scholarship Awards:
Sponsor of College Night Reception at Rome Free Academy:
Kennedy Area: Support of this local skating venue is a long term donation to sponsor the purchase of 50% of the new Zamboni.
Sponsor of Rome Hospital Tree of Lights Festival: To benefit the purchase of equipment for the hospital.
Rome's Clean and Green Initiative: Volunteers have been participating in the Adopt-a-Spot program at Wiggins Park in Rome for the past 15+ years.
If you see a school bus while driving, be on the lookout for children near the road.
